How Desca handles your data, written in plain language.
Last updated: 12/09/26
The short version: Desca doesn't have accounts, doesn't run a server for your content, and doesn't collect your notes, scans, or focus history anywhere. Almost everything you do in the app stays on your phone.
Desca does not require you to create an account, and we don't ask for your name, email, or any personal profile information to use the app. There is no sign-up screen because there is nothing to sign up for.
We don't run analytics or tracking inside Desca. There's no telemetry pinging home when you open a note, start a timer, or finish a focus session. What you type, scan, or schedule is yours, and it isn't something we ever see.
The only place data leaves your device is when a purchase is processed (see the Purchases section below) or, if you choose to turn it on, when you download an optional AI model file from our hosting provider so it can run locally on your phone.
Your notes, flashcards, scanned documents, subjects, goals, timers, and focus history are all stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This information sits in a storage container shared between the main app and the Desca widgets, so your next alarm or goal can show up on your Home Screen, but it never leaves your phone to reach us or anyone else.
Because everything lives on-device, deleting the app deletes your data along with it. If you'd like to keep a copy, Desca includes an export option in Settings so you can save your data before uninstalling or switching devices.
Desca offers optional paid themes, a theme bundle, and a subscription (Mythic Pass) for people who want to unlock extra visual styles. These purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and handled on our behalf by RevenueCat, a subscription and purchase management service.
RevenueCat may receive information needed to process and validate a purchase, such as an anonymous device or purchase identifier and your purchase history within the app. It does not receive your notes, scans, or any other content you create in Desca. You can read more about how RevenueCat handles data in their own privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
We never see or store your payment details ourselves. That part is handled entirely by Apple.
Desca requests a small number of permissions, each tied to a specific feature you choose to use:
Desca does not request microphone access, and if iOS ever shows a microphone prompt on your device, it isn't something our app is asking for.
If you turn on AI-powered features like summaries or flashcard generation, Desca uses either Apple Intelligence or a small language model that runs directly on your device. In both cases, the text from your notes is processed locally, on your phone, and is never sent to us or to any third-party server to generate a response.
If you choose to download the optional on-device model, your device will fetch that model file from our hosting provider. That download only includes the model itself. It doesn't upload anything from your notes or your device in the process.
Desca is not directed at children under 13, and since we don't collect personal information from anyone who uses the app, we don't knowingly collect personal information from children either. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please reach out using the contact details below and we'll look into it.
If we ever change how Desca handles data, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. Since the app doesn't have accounts or a way to reach you directly, we'd encourage checking back here occasionally, especially before a major app update.
